ASCO hosted a meeting with the rector of an Influential Russian Maritime Educational Institute

Chairman of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping CJSC Rauf Veliyev met with a delegation from the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, headed by the rector S.O. Baryshnikov.

ASCO Chairman Rauf Veliyev started the meeting by informing guests about transport and logistics projects that are being implemented in our country, especially in the field of shipping. The Chairman noted that despite the coronavirus pandemic that has swept the world, ASCO will remember this year with several significant events: the launch of the first local RoPax type vessel "Azerbaijan", the opening of the first museum-tanker "Surakhani", and the opening of a new administrative building for ASCO employees.

The Chairman noted the wide opportunities for building cooperation between the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, which has rich experience in training professional seamen both in the post-Soviet space and in Europe, and the Azerbaijan State Marine Academy, functioning within ASCO. Emphasizing the importance of leveraging existing capabilities, the Chairman expressed ASCO’s s interest in taking concrete steps in this direction in the future.

Rector of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping S.O. Baryshnikov provided extensive information on the latest achievements in the field of water transport in Russia, as well as on the quality of education in the educational institution he represents. The rector noted that during the pandemic, the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping was successful in applying the online education system and did not encounter any difficulties in the educational process.

It should be noted that 17,000 students study at the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping. Among 350 students from 39 countries, there are also Azerbaijanis. The rector noted that they continue their education with high rates.

S.O Baryshnikov expressed interest in cooperation with the Azerbaijan State Marine Academy, and also noted his readiness to share the experience with Azerbaijani colleagues.

During their stay in Azerbaijan, the guests are expected to hold numerous meetings, get acquainted with the activities of the Azerbaijan State Marine Academy, and discuss the details of cooperation in the field of education.
