ASCO’s diving support vessel begins operations in Shah Deniz project

The diving support vessel Akademik Tofiq Ismayilov, owned by ASCO - one of the companies under AZCON Holding—has commenced operations as part of the Shah Deniz project. For this purpose, a relevant contract has been signed between ASCO and bp, the operator of the Shah Deniz project.

The vessel will function both as a standby vessel and will participate in remotely operated activities related to inspection, technical maintenance, and repair of subsea infrastructure within the project.

As part of the preparations for the start of operations, the vessel underwent repair at the Bibiheybat Ship Repair Yard and successfully passed class inspection. Subsequently, sea trials were conducted for the DP (Dynamic Positioning) system, and the helicopter deck was certified.

In line with the order, a platform for the Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) was installed on the vessel in accordance with the requirements of the marine classification society, along with a second platform for generators serving the facility. These works were carried out by the Ship Repair Department of ASCO’s Zigh Ship Repair and Construction Yard.
