Winners of the descriptive art contest dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the shipping industry were awarded

Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) presented awards to the winners of descriptive art (painting, sculpture, and graphic arts) contest dedicated to “ Shipping industry – 160”, “ My Caspian sea”, “ The Sea loves courageous” topics for young painters on the eve of its 160th anniversary.

It was specifically noted during the awarding ceremony that the goal in arranging the event is to closely familiarize the broad audience with the challenging and unique labor of the Caspian seamen, inform them on the development of shipping industry in our country, epic history of the Azerbaijani seamen, cherish the Caspian sea as a favorable navigation route, the source of rich natural resources, and beautiful views, highlight the importance of protecting valuable ecosystem, support young and talented painters, and advise the broad audience of their creative activities.

The contest participants who achieved places in all three nominations at the event were conferred upon special diplomas on behalf of the “Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company” (ASCO). The company wished them to gain new creative successes.

There were more than 100 pieces of art presented for the contest from different towns and districts of Azerbaijan and foreign countries, of which 89 pieces conformed to the terms of contest and gained the opportunity to be presented at the ceremony.

To establish winners of the contest, the masterpieces were appraised by the representatives from the Azerbaijan State Art Academy, the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan State Culture and Art University, and Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company.

Omar Eldarov, national artist and rector of the Azerbaijan State Arts Academy, Fuad Salayev, national artist and pro – rector  of ASAA, Salhab Mammadov, national artist and secretary of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan, Khanlar Ahmadov, chairperson of the sculpture department of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan, Aghaali Ibrahimov, national artist and secretary of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan, Hamza Abdullayev, honorable artist and chairperson of graphic art department of ACAI, Farhad Aliyev, deputy chairperson of “AXDG” CJSC, and Mehman Mehdiyev, honorable journalists and chief of “AXDG” CSJC department established the best paintings.

It is noteworthy that the above contest is held for the first time in our country, within which exhibition of paintings was organized in the Museum Center and a catalogue was printed out
