"TMI-6" barge undergoes major overhaul

The "TMI-6" barge of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), operating under the Azerbaijan Transport and Communications Holding (AZCON), has undergone a major overhaul. The repair work was carried out at the “Bibi-Eybat” Ship Repair Yard.

As part of the overhaul, the floating facility was placed in dry dock. Damaged areas of the hull’s underwater and above-water sections, internal compartments and deck were replaced. Metal protective beams, bottom and side fittings, and anchor chains were repaired. The hull was then abrasively cleaned and painted above and below the waterline.

In addition, the electric motors and control systems of the anchor winch were adjusted. The main deck, ballast tanks, and dry compartments were cleaned, and complete painting work was carried out on the barge.

Upon completion, the barge was handed over to the crew and the relevant classification society for inspection. The floating facility successfully passed sea trials.

It should be noted that the barge, measuring 90.35 meters in length and 16.50 meters in width, with a carrying capacity of 2,000 tons, is intended for transporting cargo required for the construction of offshore oil platforms.
