Baku Sailing Regatta was held to mark 96th birthday anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev
Azerbaijan is accepted as one of the most influential states in the world at the international level, thanks to the successful sports policy laid down by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and followed by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Our athletes, who receive care and attention of our state, justify these hopes. There is no prestigious race where our country is not represented, and our athletes are not awarded medal and prizes. It also shows the power of an independent Azerbaijani state, patriotism of its athletes. It is a proud that sailors are also among those who become successful in international races and worthily represent Azerbaijan.
On the occasion of the 96th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, who has played an important role in the development of sports in Azerbaijan and exerted all his efforts for a healthy growth of future generations, Baku Sailing Regatta – 2019 started on May 9 in the Baku Bay with the joint organization of the Azerbaijan Sailing Federation (AYIF / SFA) and Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO ) ended today.
A total of 30 sailors joined the Regatta where they competed in the following classifications: “Optimist”, “Laser-standard”, “Laser 4.7” and “Laser-radial”).
On the final day, various entertaining programs, games and quizzes have been organized at the Seaside National Park. In addition, the Yacht Club has created favorable conditions for our guests and residents to watch the tournament more closely.
On the final day, all participants were awarded with “Participation Diplomas”. The winners of the “Baku Sailing Regatta-2019” were awarded by Ismayil Ismayilov, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Gudrat Gurbanov, President of the Sailing Sports Federation, Nazraddin Ahmedzadeh, Deputy Chairman of the CJSC Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company, Jabrayil Mahmudlu, Deputy Chairman of the CJSC Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company and Ragif Abbasov, head of the Baku City Youth and Sports Department.
Expressing his gratitude to the participants of the Regatta, Gudrat Gurbanov, President of the Sailing Sports Federation of Azerbaijan underlined high achievements in sports in our country thanks to the special attention and care of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Wishing successes to the athletes, the President of the Sailings Sports Federation also spoke about the attention attached to sailing in Azerbaijan, the successes of the sailors in international tournaments. He highly valued the importance given by parents’ of athletes to this sport.
It is worth emphasizing that Baku Sailing Regatta – 2019 has created a real festival atmosphere in the National Seaside Park. The event turned out to be a valuable spring opportunity for entertainment, leisure and photographing while also causing interest and attention of everybody.
Baku Sailing Regatta is organized for the second year. Last year, the Regatta caused great interest of both the residents of the capital and tourists.
