Representatives of China COSCO Shipping Lines Company Visited ASCO

Representatives of the COSCO Shipping Lines – state transport company of China, which is considered one of the largest shipping companies in the world, visited Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping CJSC (ASCO).

ASCO Chairman Rauf Valiyev told the guests about President Ilham Aliyev’s state policy aimed at increasing the transit potential of our country. He noted that today Azerbaijan is involved not only in significant local projects, but also in global initiatives. What is more, our country directly participates in the implementation of these initiatives.

In his presentation on the activities of ASCO, Chairman said that, by playing a connecting role in the transport corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA), the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping CJSC, together with the transportation of goods and passengers along the Trans-Caspian international route, also provides transport services related to oil and gas operations at sea. Chairman noted that ASCO is one of the unique shipping companies in the world for the variety of vessels in its fleet.

Rauf Valiyev also noted that currently, ASCO fleet – the only ferry operator in the Caspian Sea, has 13 ferries. He also informed the guests about the construction of two more ferries.

During the meeting, Chairman expressed interest in cooperation with leading and experienced international companies in the field of shipping. From this point of view, Rauf Valiyev expressed readiness to cooperate with COSCO Shipping Line.

Then, Van Songwen, Vice President of COSCO Shipping Lines for Europe, made a presentation. He said that the company he represents is state-owned and provides various services, such as shipping and shipbuilding. According to Van Songwen, currently, the company, operating more than 1300 different types of ships, plays an important role in the international traffic.

Van Songwen noted the importance of cooperation with ASCO in the field of transport and logistics. He emphasized the need for more focused steps in the future.
