8 ADDA students will serve internship at ASCO overseas ships

Training of students as well-educated specialists at Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy (ADDA) of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) plays an important role in meeting the need of the Shipping Company for prospective and knowledgeable talents. This is why the ASCO leadership attaches a particular attention to hiring alumni of the Marine Academy who demonstrated higher results in the education, to the career development, further education, and to strengthening the social security of the staff.

As the number of ships operated outside the Caspian Sea in accordance with ASCO’s strategic development plans continues to grow, young sailors need to learn more about the experience of other watersheds. With this in mind, it is already the fourth year that ADDA students have been sent to the Black Sea for a three-month summer sailing internship to ensure the development of shipping personnel in accordance with international standards.

In the 2018/99 acaemic year, 8 ADDA students got a chance to serve internship on the Black Sea Ships of the ASCO Maritime Fleet (“Garadagh”, “Maestro Niyazi”, “Mahmud Rahimov” and “Teymur Ahmadov”).

Four of the students study “Maritime Energetic Devices Engineering”, while the remaining four study “Navigation Engineering”.

Selection for the project was made based on the special criteria. Initially, the opinions of both the deans and teachers were received from the academy. Students with high scores, discipline, and a certain level of English and Russian were invited to the interview.

It is worth emphasizing that the number of ADDA students, who take the advantage of this opportunity offered by ASCO is getting more and more. At least 10 sailors are expected to be involved in this project next year.
