ABS representatives held a workshop at ASCO

Ryan Salamti, representative of the Baku office of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Seyfettin Tatli, Manager for Caspian region and Stamatis Fradelos, representative of Greece (Athens) office held a workshop for the executive staff of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) and for the staff of ASCO’s alliance partner Caspian Marine Services “(CMS).

The workshop provided comprehensive information on innovations introduced by global shipping industry. It was stressed that companies have been taking serious steps in this area. Starting from 2020, the introduction of technological innovations in the global shipping industry will gain a wider scope.

According to representative of ABS, in the coming years, the ships sailing in the world waters will be less harmful to the environment along with their multifunctional advantages. The key contribution will be made by the new requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). These requirements limit the use of high-sulfur fuels for offshore ships since 2020.

The interactive workshop was also joined by the representatives of the Turkish office of ASCO using a direct video link.

Note that the workshop with the same form was also held at the Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy in the second half of the day.
