ASCO hosted training with the participation of SAIPEM representatives

The safety training was held at the training center of the Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy of the CJSC Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) with participation of SAIPEM representatives from different countries.

The training was provided by Advisor to ASCO Chairman Titos Giannakakis, a well-known captain with a long term sea experience.

This training is part of the necessary actions provided for in the International Convention of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch-keeping for Seafarers (STCW).

The program covers several major safety issues that new sailors need to know about. This includes issues such as Life Saving Appliances (LSA) and Fire Fighting Equipment (FFE) rules, behavior during the emergencies, observance of ship safety regulations, and duties and responsibilities of the ship’s safety officer.

The training involved two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part provided information about the safety during emergencies in sea and life- saving appliances. During the practical part, the participants learned how to use life- saving appliances and fire -fighting equipment of the ship.
